Job summary

Open Society Foundations is seeking a Director – Programs, Europe to lead the Europe program strategy in a hybrid London/Berlin role. You will supervise grantmaking, engage partners, and represent the organization with funders and policymakers to advance human rights and democratic governance across Europe.

The role requires strategic oversight, risk-aware leadership, and collaboration across a dispersed team, with reporting to the VP, External Affairs and Office of the Chair.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading social change or system-change work with impact.
• Experience developing regional or multi-country strategies in Europe.
• Experience with budgeting, legal and risk accountability at large programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead Europe program strategy aligned with mission and values.
• Oversee grantmaking, partner engagement, and movement collaboration.
• Represent OSF externally to funders, policymakers, and partners.
• Monitor MEL efforts and report progress to leadership.
