Role Profile

Department Description

Digital Operations (part of Infrastructure and Cloud) is responsible for delivering the EUC (End User Computing) roadmap, strategy, and standard methodologies, ensuring alignment between the EUC program and business-as-usual (BAU) operations.

Team Description

The VDI Team is entrusted with engineering, supporting, and administering all Group VDI infrastructure.

As part of the Desktop and Mobile Team, their focus is on proactively delivering and managing VDI-related corporate infrastructure for the London Stock Exchange Group. This includes managing various architectural components and services in collaboration with other technology functions within Infrastructure and Cloud.

Role Description

The successful candidate will work with the Manager of VDI Products, based in London. This technically hands-on role focuses on the architecture, delivery, and optimization of end-user environments. The candidate will contribute to providing a leading employee experience by ensuring access to top-tier platforms that empower staff to perform at their best.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy, Planning & Architecture

  • Collaborate with Product Owners across VDI, Desktop & Mobile, Collaboration, and Voice to define and implement strategic initiatives within Digital Operations.
  • Develop and maintain the EUC technology roadmaps, ensuring they are secure, current, and aligned with evolving business needs.
  • Partner with Group Technology Architecture to ensure solutions adhere to delivery methodologies and architectural roadmaps.
  • Prepare architectural documentation for new solutions and present proposals for approval.
  • Stay updated with emerging trends and seek opportunities for continuous learning.

Delivery & Execution

  • Ensure engineering activities align with Change Lifecycle and project delivery methodologies.
  • Define and implement processes to monitor compliance with security and software policies.
  • Handle change control processes, documentation, data collection, forecasting, and plan updates.
  • Maintain clear communication with management on progress and issues.

Governance, Compliance & Risk

  • Work with Product Owners on remediation plans for audit findings.
  • Ensure teams follow Incident, Problem, and Change processes.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks focusing on resilience and stability.

Operational Management & Support

  • Manage capacity planning, EOL, and EOS tracking across the VDI estate.
  • Collaborate with support teams to enhance customer service and end-user experience.
  • Own technical issues, ensuring timely resolution and communication.
  • Build relationships with customers, setting and meeting expectations.

Leadership & Representation

  • Demonstrate leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills.
  • Set objectives, evaluate progress, and influence decision-making.
  • Serve as a key member of the VDI Leadership Team, ensuring compliance and supporting audit and control requirements.
  • Facilitate collaboration across teams and with vendors.
  • Diagnose and resolve system issues, collaborating with vendors as needed.
  • Maintain attention to detail and develop innovative solutions for complex problems.
  • Develop practical plans to meet objectives, focusing on delivery.
  • Promote efficiency through automation and SRE principles.

  • 7+ years in senior VDI roles, preferably in UK finance industry.
  • Expertise in Active Directory, Azure AD, Group Policy, SCCM, Microsoft 365, SOE, encryption methods.
  • Hands-on Windows 365 deployment experience.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting.
  • Experience with SRE practices and proactive incident management.
  • Experience with SCCM and Intune deployment.
  • Passion for user-centric product development and agile methodologies.
  • Experience managing Cloud VDI in Azure and AWS.
  • Proven track record in infrastructure project delivery, service transition, and operational support.
  • Experience working in matrix organizations and with vendors.
  • Knowledge of OAT, DR, HA, and ITSM processes.
  • Successful delivery of complex projects.

Helpful Experience:

  • Azure ecosystem setup, Ulpath, Power Automate, financial industry projects, offshore collaboration, application transitioning.
