Job summary

SMC European Technical Centre is seeking a Mechanical Engineer/Graduate Engineer in Milton Keynes to provide technical support to customers, subsidiaries and HQ. The role involves testing products, answering inquiries, preparing documentation and supporting new product launches.

The ideal candidate holds a Mechanical/Mechatronics/Electromechanical degree (2:2), can learn electrical basics, and has experience with technical reports and SolidWorks. Travel in Europe is possible.

The Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our European Technical Centre. The successful engineer/graduate engineer will be required to deliver the best technical support to our customers, the European subsidiaries, the Japanese Technical Centre, and SMC Headquarters. Within the role, the engineer will be required to:

• Support testing of products for customers
• Answer technical inquiries from our subsidiaries
• Prepare various technical documentation
• Identify, develop, and deliver training
• Perform market research
• Provide support for new products launches

To be successful in this role, you must have:

• Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering or Electromechanical degree, 2:2 minimum
• A willingness to learn Basic Electrical Engineering principles.
• Experience of writing technical reports.
• SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
• Ability to work as part of a multicultural team.
• A valid in date passport, as there will be some European travel in the role.
• Excellent spoken and written English.

Desirable , but not essential skills:

• Experience with design and principle of operation of temperature control equipment.
• Experience withControl Systems design and tuning.
• Experience of designing mechanical components or assemblies for industrial machinery.
• Experience of planning and managing own projects.
• Experience of working with customers and suppliers.LabView
• Adriving licence, permitting you to drive in the UK European language skills.
• Technical training experience.

The Selection Process
