Job summary

Emtec Group is seeking an experienced Estimator for our Glasgow area team, based at our Uddingston office. You will secure new work by producing accurate tender submissions and costings, coordinating with design, commercial and operations teams from enquiry through to delivery.

The role involves detailed take-offs, supplier pricing, and developing practical solutions that meet technical standards and client expectations. Excellent attention to detail and MS Office proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous estimating experience, ideally within electrical utilities, infrastructure or a similar environment.
• A degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in a commercial or engineering discipline would be very beneficial.
• Experience using AutoCAD to produce design and as-fitted drawings.
• A good understanding of current DNO and INA regulations, codes of practice and legislative requirements.
• Confidence interpreting specifications and technical drawings.
• An understanding of contracts, conditions and associated obligations.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Preparing detailed take-offs and bills of quantities for tender opportunities.
• Producing accurate customer quotations and project costings.
• Completing quotation letters, PQQs and ITT submissions.
• Reviewing specifications and drawings for accuracy and buildability.
• Supporting the early design and development of potential contracts.
• Assisting with the planning and preparation of larger projects.
• Developing strong relationships with suppliers to secure competitive pricing.
• Working collaboratively with internal teams to produce high-quality tender submissions.
