We are continuing to grow and now we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator & Quantity Surveyor (QS) to join our dynamic team commercial team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and evaluating accurate cost estimates and managing project finances across all phases, managing tender submissions to final account; ensuring that projects are tendered competitively, delivered within budget and complying with contractual and regulatory requirements. In addition, overseeing the commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects, primarily within the reactive maintenance and commercial construction sectors.
Experience working with framework agreements and public sector procurement is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
oCreate standard company ‘rates’ by analysing current actual costs and examine estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organising and scheduling work.
oProduce commercially sound and technically workable estimates to assist the company in winning projects
oConduct continuous reviews of various tender websites and all other sources for tenders (such as E-tenders, CIS) to identify opportunities for tendering.
oAnalyse drawings and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labour costs vs estimates.
oPrepare estimates by compiling take-off bids based on scope of work to produce fully detailed bills of quantities, or pricing bill of quantity produced by the client/ design team.
oRunning of specific portfolio of projects and frameworks, incorporating all facets of commercial/contractual administration and liaison from pre-award and invitation to tender stage through to completion.
oManage all commercial aspects of assigned projects from inception to completion.
oCoordinates with the client on all changes in scope, questions or clarifications regarding the work, during the bidding process.
oKeeping up to date with current building techniques and relevant codes of practice, building regulations and legislation to make sure these are taken account of in the estimating process.
oAbility to work to tight deadlines and work on multiple tenders simultaneously.
oAttend pre-tender and post-tender meetings with clients and internal teams.
oAll quantity surveying duties including measurements, valuation, and agreement of work sections.
oPrepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for reactive and planned maintenance projects.
oMonitor project budgets, assess and manage contract variations, commercial risk and cash flow.
oAssess cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
oConsult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or contracts manager to discuss cost.
oPrepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project manager.
oTracking the payment status of projects and programmes/frameworks and creating cash flow forecasts for each project.
oPrepare interim and final valuations/applications for payment.
oEnsure contractual compliance.
oEnsure the Company’s CRM system is utilised during each stage of project management, ensuring the data is correct and readily available for business information and reporting needs.
