Return has an opportunity for an experienced and commercially astute Estimator / Quantity Surveyor
to join our fast-growing, dynamic, Central London team.
The role is primarily office based with site visits across London with an element of hybrid working also
possible.
Projects include refurbishment and planned maintenance contracts in the £100k to £1m+ value range.
You will be part of a team of Quantity Surveyors, Contracts Managers and Site Managers, reporting to
the Contracts Director and Managing Director.
Key elements of the role:
1. Pricing of new tenders – primarily working from a Schedule of Works
2. Preparation and analysis of subcontractor tender enquiries
3. Preparation of fully priced tenders with basic programme and clarifications for adjudication
4. Handle post tender queries and negotiations with the Clients Agent
5. Commercially administer contracts with a focus on maximising profitability
6. Produce Cost Value Reports & Procurement Schedules
7. Prepare and agree valuations with the Clients Agent with forecast final account
8. Tender, place and manage subcontract orders
9. Ordering of materials at most cost-effective prices
10. Prepare labour budgets and scheduling with the Contracts Managers
11. Variation pricing and management
Skills / Experience / Qualifications
1. Proven successful record of winning projects with maximised margins
2. Team player with strong interpersonal skills – calm and focussed
3. Clear written and verbal communication and negotiation skills
4. Organised, efficient, astute and tactical with an instinctive ability to strategically prioritise
5. Excellent knowledge of current market rates / broad industry knowledge
6. Proficient IT skills - Microsoft and Google suites
7. Excellent Client relationship skills and ability
8. Minimum of 5 years QS experience in a construction / refurbishment environment
