About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Estimator (Quantity Surveyor) to join the commercial team. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career in a specialist environment, with the support of a tailored development plan and hands-on mentoring.

The role is open to candidates from a civil engineering background within groundworks who are looking to transition into estimating, as well as those with around 2 years’ experience in a similar commercial or site-based role.

You’ll work on a diverse range of projects across Scotland that typically aren’t accessible to new or early-career professionals, gaining exposure to unique challenges in asset maintenance and repair.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in collecting and assessing site records and data to support cost control and value recovery
  • Prepare cost estimates for concrete repair and maintenance works, including materials, labour, and equipment
  • Support the administration and management of subcontract work packages throughout project lifecycles
  • Conduct site visits to gather accurate measurements and assess repair requirements
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to understand the technical and commercial aspects of each project
  • Gain knowledge of various contract types and commercial procedures
  • Progress toward professional accreditation and Chartered Membership

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • A minimum of a HNC/D or degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Law, or a relevant discipline
  • Open to those with 2 years of relevant experience or those with a civil engineering background in groundworks looking to move into estimating
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A practical understanding of construction or engineering environments (desirable)
  • Full eligibility to work and live in the UK at time of joining
  • Full UK driver’s licence
