Job summary

Walker & Sloan Ltd is recruiting an Estimator in the St Albans area to join the pre-construction team. You will take ownership of tenders from enquiry to submission, developing pricing and analysing risks and opportunities across UK projects.

The role focuses on profitable, de-risked bids before handing projects to delivery. You will work with estimating, commercial and operational colleagues, using market intelligence and framework rates to reflect current costs, and you’ll engage suppliers to

Qualifications

• Two years’ estimating experience or progression from Junior Estimator within a main contracting environment.
• Commercially aware with ability to analyse tender information and costs.
• Proficient in Excel and Office tools, with good IT skills and data management.

Responsibilities

• Manage tenders from enquiry through to final submission in collaboration with pre-construction, commercial and operational teams.
• Develop accurate project pricing and interrogate tender information for risks and opportunities.
• Lead the enquiry process with supply chain, assess quotations and reflect current costs using framework rates.
• Ensure pricing, programme and information are visible to the wider team and aligned with commercial position.
• Challenge information and identify value-added alternatives to improve bid competitiveness and security.
