Job summary

BMSL Group Ltd in the South Wales area is seeking an Estimator for plastering, drylining, fire protection, and SFS projects. This full-time, permanent role involves cost management, tendering, contract administration, and reporting within a busy MEP contracting environment.

The successful candidate will have proven Estimator/Quantity Surveyor experience, strong cost control and budgeting skills, and a methodical, proactive approach. Negotiable salary depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Estimator or Quantity Surveyor with hands-on exposure to drylining, fire protection, render, or SFS projects.
• Solid understanding of cost control, budget management, and financial reporting, with the ability to analyse data and provide actionable insights.
• Good working knowledge of construction contracts, industry standards, and relevant legislation, with experience managing variations and commercial issues.
• Strong interpersonal skills, capable of building effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
• A proactive and methodical approach, with a strong eye for detail and the ability to identify and resolve issues early.
• Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying; RICS or similar accreditation is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Cost Management: Overseeing project budgets and ensuring works are delivered within agreed financial parameters.
• Tendering & Estimating: Preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for upcoming projects.
• Contract Administration: Managing contract reviews, variations, and compliance with terms.
• Project Monitoring & Reporting: Site visits to monitor progress and produce cost/performance reports.
• Stakeholder Liaison: Maintaining relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Risk & Value Management: Identifying risks and applying value engineering to optimise cost and quality.
