Job Description
We are seeking a number of experienced and highly motivated Estimators with a strong background in civil infrastructure to join a dedicated project team working on a key programme. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of the most high-profile infrastructure projects in the UK, providing essential estimating expertise throughout design, procurement, and delivery phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, develop, and manage cost estimates for complex civil infrastructure packages, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project objectives.
- Support the development of baseline cost plans, value engineering exercises, and risk-adjusted estimates.
- Collaborate closely with design teams, planners, engineers, and project managers to gather inputs and validate quantities, rates, and productivity factors.
- Undertake detailed analysis of contractor and supplier pricing, and provide recommendations on value for money and procurement strategies.
- Contribute to the preparation of tender documents and participate in bid evaluations.
- Support cost benchmarking, market analysis, and escalation assessments specific to civil works.
- Prepare clear and comprehensive estimating reports and presentations for client and stakeholder review.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction methods, market trends, and innovations within civil infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with project controls, governance frameworks, and client requirements.
Key Requirements
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience as an estimator in large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably within nuclear, energy, or major civil engineering sectors.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering works including earthworks, reinforced concrete structures, marine works, roads, and drainage.
- Proficiency in industry-standard estimating software and tools (e.g., CATO, CostX, Candy, or similar).
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a high-profile, fast-paced environment with strict governance and reporting requirements.
- Chartered status or working towards chartership (RICS, CIOB, ICES, or equivalent) is desirable.
