Job description

An established regional civil engineering and construction contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their dynamic team based in Bridgend. Operating across a wide range of sectors including infrastructure, marine, energy, water, and public realm projects, the company is known for delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions across Wales and the Southwest.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven Estimator to contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects, working in a collaborative environment that values innovation, attention to detail, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for tenders across civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
• Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive pricing strategies.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and assess cost effectiveness.
• Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings to assess conditions and build project understanding.
• Work closely with the pre-construction and delivery teams to support value engineering and programme development.
• Manage the preparation and submission of tender documents to meet client deadlines.
• Contribute to risk assessments and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as an Estimator within the civil engineering or construction sector.
• Strong knowledge of first principles estimating and pricing mechanisms.
• Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Causeway or similar).
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• A team-oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
• Experience in sectors such as marine, water utilities, or public infrastructure.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
