Job summary

Cornerstone Project Source Ltd is seeking a Permanent Flat Roofing Estimator for Essex. You will prepare tenders, perform take-offs from drawings, price labour and materials, and manage BOQs and bids under the Estimating Director. Travel to sites will be required as projects vary in value from £50k to £4M+.

Immediate start with a permanent appointment. On-site duties include client meetings, cost research, and securing tenders with accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience in flat roofing estimation and tendering.
• Proficient in take-offs from construction drawings.
• Skilled in calculating rates for labour, materials and preliminaries.
• Familiar with preparing bills of quantities and pricing schedules.
• Proficient with Bluebeam for scope drawings and mark-ups.
• Comfortable attending site handovers and meetings with project teams.
• Strong organisational and record-keeping for tenders and RFIs.
• Ability to negotiate prices with clients on site when required.
• Established client relationship development and cost research.

Job description

Cornerstone Project Source Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a leading roofing and cladding contractor for a Permanent Flat Roofing Estimator in Essex. Project values will range from £50k to £4M plus. The successful candidate will report to the estimating director, discussing bids before they are submitted to clients.

Salary: £50,000 to £60,000 per annum (DOE)

Duties:

• Prepare tenders and tender bids, collating information from enquiries received
• Undertake accurate take-offs from construction drawings, reading drawings and understanding specifications
• Calculate rates including labour, material costs and preliminary items
• Populate client bills of quantities and pricing schedules
• Prepare scope marked-up drawings using Bluebeam
• Attend handover meetings with surveying, design and management for secured projects
• Maintain accurate records of tender submissions, tender queries and RFIs
• Meet clients on site to negotiate the best price and understand requirements
• Develop and maintain relationships with key clients
• Research materials, equipment and labour costs
• Gather quotes from subcontractors and suppliers
• Report to the estimating director with technical and labour queries and discuss bids before they are submitted to clients

Minimum Requirements:

• Experience in all types of flat roofing, including but not limited to inverted hotmelt solutions (ballasted, paved, green and blue roof systems), single ply warm roofs, tapered insulation schemes, three layer felt warm roofs and cold applied liquids (preferred); preferred manufacturers include Bauder, Radmat, IKO and Kemper
• Well versed in over 18m non-combustible cladding solutions and fire barriers (expected)
• Understanding of target U-values and calculations (expected)
• Computer literate, especially in Excel (to a good standard), Word, Outlook and Bluebeam
• Good professional telephone skills with a smart appearance
• Right to work in the UK
• Full UK driving licence
• Access to own vehicle
• Relevant experience within the roofing, cladding or construction industry
• Two written references required

Desirable Experience:

• Knowledge of Bluebeam estimating software
• Knowledge of other forms of roofing, e.standing seam, lead, tiling

Working Pattern:

Travel to the office in Essex, with the possibility to eventually work from home occasionally for the right candidate.
