The Defence Infrastructure Cost Centre provides support to projects that range in complexity and size with our service offerings spanning across Programme and Project Management, Project Planning, Cost Engineering, Risk Management, and Commercial Disciplines.
We provide support to the full project lifecycle both pre-contract and post contract, delivering infrastructure projects on behalf of our clients, that range from several hundred thousand pounds in value to major projects and programmes worth over £200M.

Job Description

Owing to continued demand and our ambitious plans for growth, Turner & Townsend are looking to recruit Estimators and Senior Estimators with proven experience across the Infrastructure (Rail, Highways, Power, Marine, Water or Utilities) sector.

This role will suit an Estimator from a Defence, Nuclear, Infrastructure or Constructionbackground looking to build their experience, and shape a career within the Defence infrastructure sector.

As an Estimatorjoining the Defence SE team, you will find yourself supporting our clients to deliver a range of construction infrastructureprojects and programmes across the North of the UK spanning from the Midlands, Cumbria, North East to Scotland with additional opportunities to work on projects across the rest of the UK. The team is made up of over 40 people with our central office is in Manchester, however we have team members based all over the North of the UK such as but not limited to Nottingham, Leeds, Barrow, and Glasgow.

This will be a consultancy-based role, working in a client-focused environment – where we are measured on working closely with clients, while taking personal responsibility in dealing with clients and striving to go above their expectations. We anticipate you being on client sites or Turner & Townsend offices 60% of your time which could include travel, but this may flex depending on client and business requirements. Turner & Townsend deliver a wide range of Estimating and Commercial Intelligence outputs for our clients, to support their decision making, including:

• Estimate Production (from Order of Magnitude estimates through to detailed estimates built up from first principles);
• Estimating Support to Major Programme Set up;
• Data analysis and benchmarking

As anEstimator at Turner & Townsend you will be responsible for:

• Production of accurate and comprehensive estimates and cost plans for projects in a timely and efficient manner;
• Control and management of the estimating process at project level;
• Production of estimates without management or supervision;
• Assist with the gathering and sharing of estimating data
• Supporting development and promotion of estimating good practice within Turner & Townsend;
• Assisting in the achievement of departmental objectives;
• Staying abreast of developments within own technical area of expertise to be able to give best practice advice in line with business objectives.

Qualifications

• Qualified to high standard in Estimating or Quantity Surveying with proven relevant experience;
• Relevant successful experience of provision of estimating and/or QS services in a large project environment;
• Previous experience of working with estimating software packages;
• Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status or working towards;
• Desirable membership of RICS / CIOB /A. Cost E.
