Job description

Your new company

You will be joining an industry-leading civil engineering contractor based in Derby dedicated to successfully delivering a diverse range of projects across the UK. This multi-accredited and privately-owned principal contractor operates across the energy, industrial and commercial sectors, delivering projects valued up to £20m for an array of high-profile clients, and offers excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development. Due to continued success, they are actively seeking an Estimator to join their pre-contract team.

Working hours: 8:45 to 5:15 (flexible) with a 1-hour lunch.

Your new role

As Estimator, you will be based out of their Derby office and be responsible for, but not limited to:

Preparing and submitting tenders from first principles, including obtaining quotations for subcontract work, materials and plant, and compiling programmes

Liaising with clients to ensure a full understanding of their requirements is obtained

Assisting in checking details of order and preparing documentation for, and attending, handover meetings with the contracts department if tenders are successful

Assisting junior staff when required to ensure competence in the duties required of them

Representing the company at all times and promoting good relations with clients (and their representatives), subcontractors and the general public

Conducting site visits to determine factors that could influence the cost of undertaking works.

What you'll need to succeed

In order to be successful, you must have:

Experience in estimating within groundworks, reinforced concrete structures and/or general civil engineering works

Ability to estimate from first principles

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Sound numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills

Full UK driving licence.
