There is currently an exciting opportunity for a Civil Estimator to assist the tendering and bidding solutions for current and future project loads across Southeast Queensland for a mid-sized construction company.

We are looking for a well-rounded individual who can fit into the existing estimating team and provide leadership with the pre-qualification and tendering process, including the maintenance of a formalised CRM database for senior management.

Ideally, you will have some demonstrated exposure to subdivision activities, such as roadworks, pipe laying, bulk earthworks and environmental controls; and you will be required to provide reliable, consistent, timely and accurate estimating, tendering and bidding solutions for all projects, and support to the existing projects through providing variation costs and support when requested by the project team to ensure delivery outcomes within timeframe and budget.

Duties include :

  • Receiving and coordinating tenders, handling enquiries and providing expertise relevant to the tendering and estimating process.
  • Preparation of tender submission documents in line with client and company requirements.
  • Strong ability to interpret plans, specifications and undertake material take-off’s (MTO’s).
  • Coordinating subcontractor & supplier quotation requirements with Procurement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors & suppliers.
  • Delegating & coordinating with the relevant business units to complete Client / Principal pre-qualification assessments.
  • Participation in tender reviews with senior management.
  • Participating in pre-award negotiations, and establishing key relationships with Client / Principal representatives.
  • Liaison with the project team to ensure timely and efficient handover of deliverables.
  • Coordinating & leading the timely & efficient handover of contracts to the project team.
  • Sound mathematical skills, and ability to meet strict deadlines and timeframes.
  • Compliance with Quality Assurance requirements for both project and organisation in accordance with ISO 9001 guidelines and the companies certified system.

Skills :

  • Minimum of 7-10 years' experience with civil construction projects.
  • Efficient with Microsoft Packages, Project, Excel, Outlook and Word, as well as exposure to estimating software such as Benchmark (highly desirable).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Quality Assurance, Workplace Health & Safety and Environmental practices.
  • Sound mathematical skills, and ability to meet strict deadlines and time frames.
  • Professionally presented and articulate communication skills (both written and verbal).
