Job Description

Owing to continued demand and our ambitious plans for growth, Turner & Townsend are looking to recruit Estimators and Senior Estimators with proven experience across the Infrastructure (Rail, Highways, Power, Marine, Water or Utilities) sector.

This role will suit an Estimator from a Defence, Nuclear, Infrastructure or Construction background looking to build their experience, and shape a career within the Defence infrastructure sector.

As an Estimator joining the Defence North team, you will support our clients to deliver a range of construction infrastructure projects and programmes across the North of the UK, spanning from the Midlands, Cumbria, North East to Scotland, with opportunities to work on projects across the UK. The team is over 40 people, with our central office in Manchester and team members based throughout the North of the UK.

This will be a consultancy-based role, working in a client-focused environment, with approximately 60% of your time on client sites or Turner & Townsend offices, which may include travel depending on business needs.

Turner & Townsend deliver a wide range of Estimating and Commercial Intelligence outputs, including:

• Estimate Production (from Order of Magnitude to detailed estimates);
• Estimating Assurance;
• Supporting Major Programme Set up;
• Data analysis and benchmarking.

Responsibilities include:

• Producing accurate and comprehensive estimates and cost plans;
• Managing the estimating process at project level;
• Producing estimates independently;
• Gathering and sharing estimating data;
• Promoting estimating best practices;
• Supporting departmental objectives;
• Staying updated on technical developments.

Qualifications:

• High standard in Estimating or Quantity Surveying with relevant experience;
• Experience with estimating/ QS services in large projects;
• Proficiency with estimating software;
• Membership of a relevant professional body, chartered or working towards;
• Desirable: RICS / CIOB / A. Cost E.

Working in teams / site attendance:

We support hybrid working to balance work and life. Attendance at client sites or offices is expected about 60% of the time, flexible based on needs.
