Job description

On behalf of our client, a well–established SME specializing in high–quality fit–out contracts with an annual turnover of GBP6 million, we are seeking an Estimator to join their growing team. The client is open to considering Assistant Estimators who are ready to take the next step in their career.

Position: Estimator
Salary: Up to GBP35,000 per year (dependent on experience)
Location: Uckfield
Contract Type: Full–Time

About the Role:

Our client delivers exceptional fit–out projects across a range of sectors and is looking for a motivated and detail–oriented Estimator to support the pre–construction and tendering stages of various projects. You ll work closely with senior commercial staff and gain increased responsibility as you develop within the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate cost estimates for fit–out and refurbishment projects.

• Analyse drawings, specifications, and project documents to assess material, labour, and time requirements.

• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.

• Assist in preparing tender documentation and submissions.

• Support the commercial team with cost planning and budget management.

• Attend site visits and pre–tender meetings as required.

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in an estimating or commercial support role (ideally 2+ years within construction or fit–out).

• Assistant Estimators looking to step up are encouraged to apply.

• Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.

• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic estimating software (training provided if needed).

• Based locally or within a commutable distance to Uckfield.
