Job summary

Contract Scotland is seeking an Estimator / Senior Estimator to join our West-based team on a permanent basis. The role focuses on preparing accurate tenders, pricing projects, and supporting the commercial team across a range of construction schemes.

You will work with clients, subcontractors and internal teams to ensure competitive, viable bids and drive project success. This is an excellent step for an experienced estimator or a senior estimator seeking a new challenge.

Qualifications

• Previous estimating experience within the construction/building sector.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and tender documents.
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Preparing detailed estimates and tenders from drawings, specifications and other project information.
• Reviewing tender documentation and identifying risks, opportunities and value-engineering options.
• Obtaining and assessing quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Completing detailed take-offs and cost analysis.
• Preparing competitive and accurate tender submissions.
• Liaising with clients, consultants and subcontractors throughout the tender process.
• Supporting the commercial team with pricing strategies and cost planning.
• Maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and clients.

Estimator / Senior Estimator

Location: West-based

Level: Estimator to Senior Estimator

An established and growing construction business is looking to appoint an Estimator / Senior Estimator to join its team on a permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimator looking to take the next step in their career, or a Senior Estimator seeking a new challenge within a progressive construction environment.

The Role

Working as part of the commercial team, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders across a range of construction projects. You will work closely with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams to ensure projects are accurately priced and commercially viable.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing detailed estimates and tenders from drawings, specifications and other project information
• Reviewing tender documentation and identifying risks, opportunities and value-engineering options
• Obtaining and assessing quotations from subcontractors and suppliers
• Completing detailed take-offs and cost analysis
• Preparing competitive and accurate tender submissions
• Liaising with clients, consultants and subcontractors throughout the tender process
• Supporting the commercial team with pricing strategies and cost planning

About You

We are open to candidates operating at Estimator through to Senior Estimator level, with the role and responsibilities tailored according to your experience.

You will ideally have:

• Previous estimating experience within the construction/building sector
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and costs
• The ability to interpret drawings, specifications and tender documentation
• Experience producing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a wider team
