Adderstone Civils, the civil engineering arm of Adderstone Group in North East England, is seeking an experienced Estimator. You will manage tenders from enquiry to submission and handover, building competitive estimates and pricing strategies through collaboration with management and the supply chain.

The role emphasises accurate take-offs, rate build-ups and risk-based pricing, with strong client and consultant liaison.

Qualifications

• Five years of relevant estimating experience.
• Civil engineering background, ideally in estimating.
• Strong first-principles estimating skills.
• Confidence with take-offs, rate build-ups and supplier/subcontractor quotations.
• Based in the North East.

Responsabilités

• Take ownership of tenders from initial enquiry through to submission and handover to the delivery team
• Build accurate, competitive estimates from first principles
• Produce take-offs and rate build-ups
• Obtain, assess and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Identify risks and opportunities in tender documents and advise on how to price them
• Work with senior colleagues to agree bid strategy and final pricing

The business delivers groundworks, infrastructure and civil engineering projects for a wide range of public and private sector clients. The role

This is a role with real responsibility. You’ll manage tenders from initial enquiry through to submission and handover, and your estimates will play a direct part in which projects the business wins.

You’ll work closely with senior management and the commercial and operational teams, and you’ll liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors throughout the tender process.

What you’ll do

What we’re looking for

• At least five years’ relevant experience
• A civil engineering background, ideally in estimating
• Strong first-principles estimating skills
• Confidence with take-offs, rate build-ups and supplier and subcontractor quotations
• The judgement to know when a price is right, and the confidence to say so
• Based in the North East
