Job Description

Title: Estimator - Liverpool

Our new company: Our client is a leading construction and project management firm specializing in delivering high-quality services across sectors such as transport infrastructure, commercial, healthcare, and refurbishment projects. They are renowned for managing projects up to £3 million, with a strong focus on excellence, sustainability, and value for money.

Our new role: We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Liverpool team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for various projects, assessing project requirements, conducting detailed take-offs, and producing cost plans to ensure projects stay within budget and on schedule.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Preparing detailed cost estimates for projects up to £3 million, from design to completion.
  2. Conducting site visits to assess scope, gather information, and evaluate risks.
  3. Reviewing tender documents, specifications, and drawings to develop comprehensive estimates.
  4. Developing competitive tender submissions considering labor, materials, and overhead costs.
  5. Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors for quotes and procurement strategies.
  6. Identifying and managing project risks, ensuring cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
  7. Collaborating with project teams to meet project requirements.
  8. Producing cost breakdowns, tender submissions, and budgets for management review.
  9. Monitoring project costs and providing advice to ensure budgets are adhered to.
  10. Ensuring estimates comply with company procedures and industry standards.
  11. Supporting the bid process, including presenting estimates to clients and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry.
  • Experience with projects up to £3 million.
  • Understanding of construction methods, materials, and project delivery.
  • Experience with cost estimating software (e.g., CostX, Estimator).
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and accuracy skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to assess risks and deliver cost-effective solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tenders.
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS) is desirable but not essential.
