Job summary

Linear Recruitment Ltd is seeking an Estimator for projects in the Yorkshire region. The role focuses on reviewing tender documentation, assessing feasibility, and preparing technical and commercial submissions.

You’ll identify opportunities and risks, prepare bills of quantities, and evaluate first principles estimates. You will also review subcontract tender submissions for compliance, monitor contract requirements, and mentor junior staff within the Estimating team.

Qualifications

• Experience in estimating construction projects.
• Ability to read drawings and prepare estimates for tender submissions.
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations relevant to estimating.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Review tender documentation and provide feasibility advice.
• Prepare information on technical and commercial aspects for submission; identify opportunities/risks.
• Prepare bills of quantities / schedule of rates for tenders and first principle estimates.
• Review subcontract tender submissions for compliance and inclusion into the estimate.
• Monitor contract compliance against statutory requirements.
• Manage junior personnel within the Estimating department.

Construction Our client, a regional contractor is currently recruiting for a Estimator to work on a number of contracts & frameworks within the Yorkshire Regions.

Office Location: Barnsley

Review contents of tender documentation and provide feasibility advice

• Ensure 'estimates for work' take adequate account of applicable legislation and recognised industry standards on health, safety, quality and environment
• Prepare all necessary information on the technical and commercial aspects for submission. Identify potential opportunity / risk and evaluate options Prepare bills of quantities / schedule of rates for tender applications and first principle estimates
• Review subcontract tender submissions for compliance and inclusion into the estimate
• Monitor contract compliance against statutory requirements
• Management of junior personnel within the Estimating department

Key requirements include

• Technical knowledge of the construction industry
• The ability to communicate at all levels of business, both internally and externally.
• The ability to read drawings and accurately prepare estimates for competitive submission.
• A confident approach to problem solving.
• Excellent competence in MS Excel, Outlook and Word and sound general computer skills.
