Job summary

Michael Page is seeking an Estimator in the UK construction sector to prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects and support tender submissions. You will perform take-offs, assess supplier quotes, and help manage budgets from conception to post-project reviews.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years as an Estimator, strong knowledge of construction methods, and proficiency with CostX, Bluebeam, Buildertrend and Excel. Excellent analytical and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience as an Estimator in the UK construction sector.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials and cost drivers.
  • Experience preparing competitive tenders and commercial submissions.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (CostX, Bluebeam, Buildertrend, Excel).
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specs.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills.
  • Attention to detail and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed cost estimates from drawings, specifications and scope documents.
  • Carry out accurate take-offs for labour, materials and equipment.
  • Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare tender submissions, budgets, cost plans and bid documentation.
  • Support pre-construction activities including risk analysis and value engineering.
  • Collaborate with commercial, design, production and project teams to validate estimates.
  • Monitor project costs against estimates and contribute to post-project reviews.
  • Maintain and develop cost databases reflecting current market rates.
  • Review tender portals and identify new opportunities.
  • Negotiate with supply chain partners and support bid-writing activities.

Profile

To be successful in this role, you'll have:
