ESTIMATING LEAD – OAK FIRE PROTECTION


Locations: Uxbridge / Romford / Leicestershire / Solihull

What you will be doing:


An opportunity has arisen for an Estimating Lead to join Galliford Try within our Oak Fire Protection Business.


You will ideally be based in or around the Uxbridge, Romford, Leicestershire, or Solihull area, with travel across multiple sites/projects in the region.


This key leadership role involves overseeing the estimating team, ensuring timely delivery of accurate and competitive tenders, and contributing to the company's commercial strategy and growth.


Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the full tender process from enquiry to submission, ensuring accurate and competitive pricing for passive fire protection projects.
  • Lead, mentor, and support estimators, ensuring high performance and development.
  • Review and approve estimates to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to clarify requirements and build strong relationships.
  • Evaluate tender documents including drawings, specifications, and scope of works.
  • Monitor market trends, supply chain pricing, and competitor activity to inform strategy.
  • Develop and maintain estimating procedures, tools, and databases.
  • Collaborate with commercial and operations teams for project handovers, budgets, and value engineering.
  • Participate in strategic meetings and negotiations as needed.
  • Support business development by identifying growth opportunities.

About You:

  • Experience in estimating, with at least [X] years in a managerial or senior role within passive fire protection or related fields.
  • Strong technical knowledge of passive fire protection systems and UK regulations (BS, EN).
  • Proven leadership and team development skills.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (Bluebeam, ConQuest, Causeway, etc.).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Commercial awareness with analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Relevant qualifications (HNC, HND, or equivalent) preferred.
