A prominent healthcare provider in Rochford seeks an experienced EIP Care Coordinator to support clients with psychotic illnesses. The role involves creating and managing care plans, assessing risks, and providing leadership within the team. Ideal candidates will be registered mental health nurses or social workers with community experience. The position includes flexible working opportunities and is integral to supporting clients’ recovery journeys.
ESTEP Care Coordinator: Community Mental Health Nurse. The closing date is 22 October 2025.
ESTEP is the Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Service that covers South East Essex. We are looking for an experienced mental health nurse to become an EIP Care Co-ordinator for a fixed term. We seek someone who has existing community experience, ideally within an EIP setting, and who has a passion for working with this client group.
Being part of someone\'s journey towards recovery is powerful and rewarding. For people who have had a psychotic illness we offer a 3-year period of engagement with the team, which allows time to establish relationships and agree plans of care. There are clear NICE guidelines in terms of a care plan offer and what should be included. The early months focus on getting to know the person to develop trust and a shared understanding of what they are experiencing and why.
The skills required to be an effective EIP practitioner include: adapting your working approach to establish relationships with those you work with; balancing clinical activity with good standards of record keeping on the electronic record; providing psychoeducation around psychosis; using assessment tools; engaging with friends/families/carers; contributing to an MDT setting; engaging in supervision and training; having a good understanding of medication and its benefits; understanding CBT and the evidence around it to aid recovery from psychosis; being effective in assessing and managing risks; and being skilled in care planning.
To be effective, you should be able to assess and manage risks and contribute to high-quality care planning.
