Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a qualified Electrical or Mechanical Technician to join our Estates Engineering Team, keeping our critical services running 24/7 across Basildon and surrounding sites.

You will undertake planned preventive maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and carry out installations on generators, alarms, lighting and other systems, with a strong focus on safety and quality workmanship. This role offers training opportunities within a supportive team.

Responsibilities

• Operate on a day shift, actively responding to breakdowns and job requests.
• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance and fault-finding on generators, fire alarms, lighting and power, distribution boards, boilers, AHUs, chiller plant, medical gas systems, calorifiers and hot & cold-water networks.
• Undertake maintenance, improvement and minor capital works on all facilities across the Trust.
• Evaluate and respond to emergencies, prioritising safety for patients, staff and the public.
• Conduct and document risk assessments for medium and high-risk tasks.
• Ensure compliance with Trust policies, statutory standards and health & safety legislation.

What You'll Do

Qualifications

• An approved apprenticeship in an electrical or Mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.

Knowledge

• Work history and supporting information demonstrates an understanding of the importance of effective team working and contribute to team progression.
• Recent practical working experience of Electrical/Mechanical systems.
