Job summary

New Forest Care is seeking a motivated Estates Team Member to maintain our grounds, buildings, and animal facilities. This hands-on role ensures our facilities are safe, welcoming, and well cared for, with daily animal husbandry duties and general maintenance across the estate.

You will work outdoors in all weather, handle routine maintenance tasks, and collaborate with colleagues to support improvements. A full UK driving licence and relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Have practical experience in one or more of the following: animal care, grounds maintenance, gardening, or general property maintenance.
  • Be physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Have good problem-solving skills and a proactive, can-do attitude.
  • Be reliable, organised, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Take pride in maintaining high standards and attention to detail.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Have relevant qualifications or experience in animal care, horticulture, or maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out daily animal husbandry duties, including feeding, watering, cleaning enclosures, monitoring animal welfare, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Maintain gardens, lawns, borders, and landscaped areas through planting, pruning, mowing, weeding, and seasonal maintenance.
  • Undertake general maintenance and repair work across the homes and school sites, including basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, and other practical tasks.
  • Assist with fencing, pathways, outdoor structures, and estate infrastructure.
  • Operate and maintain gardening and maintenance equipment safely.
  • Ensure high standards of cleanliness, health and safety, and biosecurity are maintained.
  • Respond to maintenance issues promptly and support planned improvement projects.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and be willing to assist across different areas of the estate as required
