Taskmaster Resources is recruiting on behalf of our clientfor this exciting opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary estates team. The post holder will provide direct supervision and management of both directly employed staff and specialist contractors.

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake the role of Authorised Person (AP) for a range of engineering services, as defined within Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 00. This will be determined by the Compliance and Mechanical Services Manager and Head of Operational Estates, based on the requirements of the service. The role also involves key operational responsibilities for ensuring that engineering services comply with all current statutory, mandatory, and best practice requirements, in full alignment with HTM guidance.

Applicants must have substantial supervisory experience or be willing to undertake further training to ensure efficient and effective management of external contractors and staff. Responsibilities will include overseeing staff timekeeping, completion of work requests, resource and materials management, absence monitoring, appraisals, team briefs, toolbox talks, health and safety, and other key service deliverables.

Main Duties of the Job

Key responsibilities include the maintenance, installation, commissioning, and testing of a wide range of engineering services. The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Undertake the role of Authorised Person (AP) for a range of systems:
  • Decontamination (SSD)
  • Medical Gas Piped Systems (MGPS)
  • Lifts
  • LV Electrical systems
  • Water Systems
  • Ventilation systems
  • Automatic, Active, and Passive Fire Protection systems
  • Participate in the Trade On Call Rota
  • Provide support for service delivery in the absence of technicians

Person Specification

Education – Essential Criteria

  • Recognised and registered trade apprenticeship, or equivalent NVQ/relevant field experience
  • HNC in Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or willingness to obtain within 2 years)

Experience – Essential Criteria

  • Minimum of 4 years’ post-apprenticeship experience in servicing, testing, and maintaining complex electrical/mechanical equipment

Skills – Essential Criteria

  • High level of interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety
  • IT literate, with solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office
