Lloyd Recruitment Service is pleased to be working with a large organisation in search of an Estates Planning Manager to join their team on a full time permanent basis.

Purpose of the Job:

To advise the Head of Estates and the wider Estates Team on all planning–related matters concerning the portfolio of sites across the United Kingdom. This role will support the Department's strategy, aligning with the overall long–term business strategy by developing and improving the Estate's portfolio through securing planning consents.

Estates Planning Manager Key Tasks/Accountabilities:

  1. Possess a strong working knowledge of the Town and Country Planning system
  2. Provide strategic planning advice to internal stakeholders on development and redevelopment opportunities, changes of use, and alternative use options
  3. Prepare pre–application consultation briefs for Local Planning Authorities
  4. Attend pre–application consultation meetings with planning officers and internal colleagues
  5. Attend site and review meetings
  6. Prepare and submit planning appraisals, statements, and applications for site developments, changes of use, and Certificates of Lawfulness, working closely with Development Managers
  7. Select, instruct, and manage external professional advisers, including planning, heritage, ecology, highways, flood risk, and other specialist consultants on a project–by–project basis
  8. Prepare objections to proposals for neighbouring properties that negatively impact the sites
  9. Attend Planning Committee meetings occasionally
  10. Manage day–to–day planning projects, liaising with in–house teams, external disciplines, and LPAs to ensure swift, positive outcomes

Essential Skills & Experience Required:

  1. An accredited degree in Town Planning or a similar discipline
  2. Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI) with a minimum of four years' post–qualification experience (PQE), ideally in a planning advisory role (whether in–house, Local Planning Authority (LPA), or consultancy)
  3. Proven experience in preparing and successfully securing planning consents for significant development schemes
  4. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain strong, sustainable relationships both internally and externally, demonstrating a positive and approachable disposition
  5. Strong financial and commercial awareness
  6. Good analytical skills with the ability to quickly grasp new concepts
  7. Excellent report writing skills
  8. Well–developed IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides
  9. A valid car driver's license, with the ability to travel across the UK and stay overnight as required
