Overview

Base - Scarborough

Hours - 37.5 hours per week

As directed by the Head of Operational Estates the post holder will be responsible for the integrity of the Mechanical, Electrical, Building and Fabric infrastructure, and for providing specialist technical advice to the day-to-day management of the Trust's buildings with regards to breakdowns, planned preventative maintenance and minor works projects whilst providing expert advice on all aspects of Estates Specialist Services.

The post holder may be required to undertake root cause analysis for Estates services or other system issues, and at times will be required to prioritise tasks considering competing demands. The post holder will participate in an on-call service to provide out of hours advice and assistance. The post holder will be expected to use their skills, experience and initiative to resolve problems.

The post holder will be responsible for the supervision and management of the Electrical Manager, Building Services Manager and their team of in-house multi-skilled maintenance team, as well as coordination of specialist contractors that are pivotal to the day to day running of the Estates function.

The role will also include responsibility for ensuring that the site has compliant value-for-money service contracts for all specialist Estates maintenance services, working closely with colleagues at other Trust sites to standardise contracts where appropriate. This will include working with Trust Procurement specialists to ensure that all contracts are fully compliant with Trust Standing Financial Instructions (SFIs).

The post holder will be based at York Hospital and shall ensure that all plant equipment is serviced and maintained throughout the Trust's property, including the major overhauls and replacement of assets in accordance with Statutory and Trust requirements, and ensure that a lifecycle replacement programme is developed to assist capital planning.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the integrity of the Mechanical, Electrical, Building and Fabric infrastructure and provide specialist technical advice for breakdowns, maintenance, and minor works projects.
  • Develop and implement the maintenance strategy for all estates assets, ensuring full compliance and identification of risks/issues as they arise.
  • Undertake root cause analysis for Estates services or other system issues and prioritise tasks with competing demands.
  • Participate in an on-call service to provide out of hours advice and assistance.
  • Supervise and manage the Electrical Manager, Building Services Manager and their in-house maintenance team; coordinate specialist contractors critical to Estates operations.
  • Ensure compliant value-for-money service contracts for specialist Estates maintenance services and standardise contracts where appropriate with Trust Procurement to meet SFIs.
  • Ensure plant equipment is serviced and maintained across the Trust’s property, oversee major overhauls and asset replacements, and develop a lifecycle replacement programme for capital planning.
