Great Ormond Street Hospital is seeking a specialist in Engineering & Building Services. This pivotal role involves overseeing maintenance operations, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, and leading a team of technical staff to maintain the highest standards of service. The successful candidate will have proven engineering management experience and a strong commitment to patient care and operational excellence.
Job summary
You will be expected to provide a timely, safe, efficient and cost effective estates operational and maintenance service. Responsible to the Senior Operational Manager Estates with line management responsibility for all operational, trade, specialist technicians, charge hands and supervisors, working within the Estates Department as well as overseeing contractors and contracted specialist labour. You will act as a specialist on behalf of the Trust for all aspects of Engineering & Building Services and will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of the engineering infrastructure, systems and equipment. It will be expected of you to develop a positive/close working relationship with all other Facilities and Estates Managers, Divisional Departments Senior Management in both Clinical and Non-Clinical area's and participates as a member of the Projects Team for all issues relating to the Trust Operational development programme.

Oversee where required that all emergency repairs and planned maintenance is carried out as required in and out of normal working hours in line with the shift agreement and is supervised. Responsible for performance monitoring and review, development of individual performance objectives and performance development review for all staff for which the post holder is responsible. This includes assessing and motivating staff to achieve targets and goal setting.
