Job summary
The Estates Department operates and maintains energy and environmental resources, controls, electrical and mechanical services providing power, lighting, heating, air conditioning to wards, outpatients and operating theatres. Estates directly impacts on patient welfare, frontline clinical care, infection prevention and control and energy efficiency and sustainability across the Estates Trust.
We have an exciting opportunity for a committed, highly self-motivated individual. The Royal Marsden is looking for an Estates Officer to join the Estates Team in Chelsea. This is a highly valuable broad ranging role, which will expose them to the whole range of Estates services including mechanical, electrical, building & energy control systems and project management.
The Estates Department is responsible for providing the safe operation of planned, reactive and emergency maintenance to The RMH Trust. The Estates Officer having a range of duties will support the department, and the wider Trust in providing a comfortable, safe and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors.
The Trust incorporates many building types and engineering systems, all of which must comply with current legislation, guidance and recommended approved codes of practices, therefore it is crucial for the post holder to have or gain knowledge of the plant and systems, including:

Essential: A good standard of education, Specialist knowledge acquired through relevant HNC/HND/Degree course or equivalent working experience and responsibilities, Relevant C&G trade apprenticeship or equivalent on the job experience, Post apprentice experience, One or more Hospital Engineering related qualification.
Desirable: Service training, Additional Hospital Engineering related qualification, Recognised supervisory management qualification, Recognised Health & Safety Qualification.
Essential: Experience within a maintenance environment, Proficient in the use of hand tools and machinery, Highly aware of Health & Safety issues, Experienced in working in a demand driven service, Experienced in working to deadlines, Experienced in issuing permits to work.
Desirable: Supervision of multi- disciplinary team in healthcare premises, Experience of working in a large organisation.
