Job description

Gloucestershire Managed Services (GMS) is seeking an Estates Officer with an electrical bias based at NHS Gloucestershire Royal Hospital to oversee and lead the operational service delivery of engineering, building, and grounds maintenance services.

This pivotal role ensures safety, compliance, and optimal functionality across healthcare facilities. As a technical expert in electrical systems, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and customer-focused services, supporting patient care in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and coordinate reactive and planned electrical maintenance tasks to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, NHS England HTMs, and HBNs.
  2. Manage and supervise a team of in-house staff and contractors, ensuring effective performance and resource allocation.
  3. Act as an Authorised Person (HV & LV) for electrical systems, maintaining safe systems of work and compliance with regulations. There will be a requirement to become an Authorised Person for an additional discipline.
  4. Provide technical expertise for electrical minor work projects, including design, procurement, and contract management.
  5. Develop and implement maintenance plans and policies to ensure cost-effective and efficient service delivery.
  6. Participate in an on-call rota, providing managerial or technical advice for emergencies or incidents.
