This temporary role includes a pay rate of £30.50 per hour and offers 37.5 hours of work per week.

Job description

Location: Estates Manager
Job Type: Temporary
Duration: Initially 3 months, with potential for extension

Start Date: ASAP
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Pay Rate: 30.50 PAYE Inclusive of Holiday Pay

Job Purpose:

To manage and deliver high-quality Mechanical and Electrical Estates services across a hospital site. This role ensures compliance, safety, and performance standards while supporting patient-focused service delivery and strategic development within the Estates & Facilities division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day management of mechanical, electrical, and building systems (HVAC, boilers, medical gases, power systems, etc.).
  • Oversee internal teams and contractors to ensure compliance, efficiency, and value for money.
  • Manage team performance, training, and development, promoting a culture of service excellence.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and tender evaluations.
  • Ensure all statutory requirements and safety standards are met.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, policy development, and capital project support.
  • Represent Estates on internal committees and liaise with clinical teams and senior management.
  • Participate in on-call rota for Estates management.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in Building Services Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional registration (e.g. IEng or CEng) with IHEEM, CIBSE, IET, or similar.
  • Significant experience at senior level within healthcare estates or similar complex environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with key healthcare systems (HTM compliance, medical gases, pressure systems, etc.).
  • Proven leadership, staff management, and budget management skills.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and report-writing skills.
