Estates & Facilities Officer - Education (On-Call)

Job summary

Catch 22 are recruiting for a proactive and motivated Estates Officer based in Orpington, South East London. The role will involve maintenance, safety and compliance duties across our onsite facilities, with a 39-hour week and a salary of £28,000–£31,000 depending on experience.

You will coordinate contractors, manage CAFM, respond to emergencies, and ensure high standards of service for learners and staff. An Enhanced DBS check is required, and a full UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in estates, facilities or building maintenance.
• Knowledge of building fabric, mechanical and electrical systems.
• Practical skills in decorating, carpentry and plumbing repairs.
• Experience of PPM, statutory compliance and contractor management.
• Familiarity with CAFM and basic IT skills.
• A proactive, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A Health & Safety qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
• Flexibility to work shifts and participate in an on-call rota.
• A full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, secure environment for learners, staff and visitors.
• Undertake planned/reactive maintenance, PPM, inspections and compliance checks.
• Coordinate contractors, RAMS and permits to work; ensure safety and quality.
• Respond to estates emergencies and manage Service Desk/CAFM workload.
• Own workload and support Estates Operations Manager in their absence.
