Overview
Staffline are recruiting on behalf of WHSCT for a Band 5 Estates Auto Cad Technician.
Location: Estates Department, PSI
Hours: 37.5 hrs per week, Mon-Fri
Pay: Band 5 pay scale, annual £29,970 (No. 1) £15.33 per hour
Responsibilities
- The post holder will be responsible for the management of Estates drawing records and the operational maintenance database information.
- Provide a CAD support facility to the in-house Estates Department.
- Develop and maintain the Estates record drawings and associated databases.
- Prepare CAD details and drawings in support of project works undertaken by the Estates Projects and Maintenance teams.
- Proactively manage and update the drawing archive and survey all database information.
Physical Skills
- Undertake frequent long periods of sitting or standing at a desk/work station inputting/designing/drawing via a keyboard or producing technical reports.
- Occasional need to access and inspect under floor ducts, roof spaces, etc. using ladders and access equipment involving manual handling of weights up to 15 kgs.
- Must be able to take and assess technical/building information including:
- Measurements
- Building inspections
- Condition surveys
Produce detailed drawings using AutoCAD software which will regularly require prolonged concentration.
- Produce condition surveys and undertake assessment reports on specific building issues as required.
- Use surveying equipment in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and in compliance with Trust policies, procedures, and industry best practice.
- Advanced keyboard and IT skills in the use of AutoCAD.
- The role requires the post holder to be generally physically fit.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, etc., in accordance with safe systems of work and risk assessments.
Essential Criteria
Either:
- A degree in a relevant Building or Engineering related subject with 1 year experience and:
- A detailed knowledge and experience of AutoCAD systems
- A sound knowledge of building design and mechanical and electrical services
- A working knowledge of the Building Regulations
- Higher National Certificate / Diploma in a relevant Building or Engineering related discipline with 3 years post-apprenticeship experience and:
- A detailed knowledge and experience of AutoCAD systems
- A sound knowledge of building design and mechanical and electrical services
- A working knowledge of the Building Regulations
- Time served tradesperson with an AutoCAD qualification and 5 years post-apprenticeship experience in a Health Care maintenance environment with:
- A detailed knowledge and experience of AutoCAD systems
- A sound knowledge of building design and mechanical and electrical services
- A working knowledge of the Building Regulations
Skills / Abilities
- Excellent communication skills to meet the needs of the post in full.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Working knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation; building services; building regulations.
- Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the post.
- Willing to undergo appropriate training if required.
Experience
- Estates information technology systems.
- Working in a Health Care environment or similar environment.
- Preparing maintenance estimates and engineering reports.
- Computer literacy in other systems.
- DHSS&PS or Health & Safety Training.
