Job summary

Orbit is seeking an Estate Services Operative to join our team responsible for cleaning communal areas and maintaining safe, tidy estates. The role includes litter removal, bin area upkeep, and assisting with minor duties across housing estates.

You will operate cleaning machinery, drive company vehicles, and work across seasons to keep 46,000 homes in top condition. DBS checks may apply; join a values-driven, community-focused employer with opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current full UK driving licence.
• Basic level of numeracy and literacy.
• Capability to operate machinery and cleaning equipment.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all seasons.
• Must fulfil the physical requirements of a manual post.

Responsibilities

• Provide high standard cleaning service to communal areas in blocks (lifts, stairwells, floors, walls, windows).
• Maintain clear refuse areas: bin stores, chute rooms and hoppers per cleaning specs.
• Carry out litter picking and bulk rubbish removal including noxious substances to keep estates visually high quality and safe.
• Use and maintain PPE and machinery safely; report faults, near misses, incidents or accidents to Senior Estate Services Operative.
• Store hazardous and inflammable liquids per COSHH and fire regulations.
• Carry out estates duties as directed (snow clearance, gritting, bin works, minor repairs, graffiti removal).
