Job summary

Westminster City Council is seeking an Estate Services Officer to maintain safe, welcoming communal areas on estates and residential blocks. You will monitor contracted cleaners and grounds maintenance, provide emergency call-out cover, and serve as a friendly, customer-focused presence on our estates.

Your duties include inspecting blocks and plant rooms, carrying out fire risk assessments and safety checks, arranging repairs, and ensuring compliance with council standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer-facing public service roles.
• Ability to work under health and safety guidelines.
• Proficiency with mobile devices for recording inspections.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe, welcoming communal areas on estates and blocks; monitor contracted cleaning and grounds services.
• Provide emergency call-out cover for housing management or repairs.
• Perform inspections of blocks, ladders, roofs and escape routes; carry out fire risk assessments and safety checks.
• Coordinate repairs, report concerns and ensure health and safety issues are addressed.
• Record incidents, gather reports for evening resident meetings, and assist with enforcement as needed.
• Work with Housing Management to prioritise tasks, meet targets and balance competing demands.
