ESTATE MAINTENANCE /HANDYMAN/ DRIVER – SURREY - UP TO £40,000 Save Permanent, Full Time BOX: 1311804 Job Specifications



An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and skilled individual to join a private estate in Surrey. The estate comprises a Main Residence, Ancillary Accommodation, Stable Yard, Gallops, Paddocks, and Farm Buildings across approximately 600 acres (majority under farm tenancy). This is a varied role requiring a hands-on approach to estate maintenance, property management, and country pursuits.

Role Responsibilities

Property Maintenance – Conducting repairs, fixes, fault reporting, and remedial works.
Grounds Maintenance – Hedge cutting, fence repairs, vegetation clearance, general tidying, and collecting firewood.
Woodland Management – Assisting with the Principal’s Woodland Management Plan and liaising with estate staff and external partners.
Supplier Liaison – Acting as the point of contact for estate service providers (e.g., alarms, phone systems, utilities).
Routine Inspections – Arranging and overseeing maintenance visits for systems such as:
Alarm maintenance (potential keyholder role)
PV panel servicing
Swimming pool upkeep
Sporting Equipment Management – Maintaining and servicing shotguns, rifles, and fishing equipment.
General Support – Assisting estate staff, including the gardener, housekeeper/cook, and stable yard team.
Miscellaneous Tasks – Light window cleaning (ground floor), dog walking, and basic handyman duties, especially when the Principal or house staff are away.
Driving Duties – Providing transport as required, including occasional support at the Principal’s London property.


Country Pursuits Support
Assisting the Principal and his wife with shooting and fishing activities, including multiple trips throughout the season (overnight stays may be required).
Preparing vehicles and sporting equipment (guns, ammunition, fishing gear).
Accompanying and loading at shoots.
Looking after the estate dogs as needed.
Shotgun Certificate required (or renewal support provided).


Candidate Requirements
Strong estate maintenance experience, including property, grounds, and woodland management.
Vehicle and property management knowledge.
Clean driving licence – tractor and farm equipment experience essential.
Chainsaw licence/qualification (or willingness to obtain with support).
Shotgun/Firearms certification essential (renewal support available).
Fishing experience desirable.
London driving experience beneficial.
Trustworthy and discreet.
Proactive and highly organised.
Strong communication, negotiation, and time management skills.
