We have an opportunity arising for a part time therapist post within the West (Workington & Copeland) Early Supported Stroke Discharge Team. This is to cover hours being reduced by existing staff and would be suitable for either a physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist. The post is for 22.5 hours pw, working pattern can be discussed at interview.

The Early Supported Stroke Discharge service provides assessment and rehabilitation at home and in the local community to patients in West Cumbria on their discharge from hospital, following a recent stroke. We are a small team working with patients with mild-moderate levels of disability and a wide variety of needs. Our input is based around patient identified goals and is varied, stimulating and rewarding.

Main duties of the job

• Working in an MDT with Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Rehabilitation Assistants and in partnership with Speech and Language Therapists, psychological services and third sector parties.
• Working autonomously to provide therapy assessments, treatment planning and evidence based interventions to patients following a stroke, in their own home and communities.
• To work collaboratively across the North Cumbria Integrated Stroke Service to ensure a seamless provision of stroke services across the acute hospital, inpatient rehabilitation and Early Supported Discharge teams.
• To supervise and support junior staff and students.
• Contribute to service development and data collection within North Cumbria Integrated Stroke Services.
• The role involves driving around the service catchment area of Workington and Copeland ICCs and some remote working from home (a laptop is provided). Our office base is currently Maryport Hospital, but may move to Workington Hospital later this year.

Qualifications
