Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking an ESOL Learning Support Assistant to help adult learners develop language skills in a positive, inclusive setting. You will support reading, writing, speaking, listening, and organisational tasks under the guidance of ESOL tutors.

The role requires a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths, basic digital skills, and safeguarding awareness. The position is based at Wigston Magna Library with some flexibility for other locations and hybrid working

Qualifications

• A Level 2 qualification or above in both English and Maths.
• Basic digital skills, including the use of email and web-based systems.
• Experience of paid or voluntary work in an educational, community, or support setting.
• Experience of working with refugees, displaced people, or individuals from different cultural backgrounds.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• An understanding of safeguarding principles and learner welfare.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside ESOL tutors to provide learning support to adult learners.
• Help learners achieve their learning goals in a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment.
• Support learners during ESOL classes under guidance of tutors and curriculum staff.
• Assist learners with reading, writing, speaking, listening, organisation, and maintaining focus during activities.
