Job description

Newcastle College is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and qualified Instructor in ESOL to join their team. The successful candidate will work with adult ESOL learners across various classrooms, including computer labs at Riverside Dene, supporting learners to improve their English skills through active involvement and monitoring.

The main responsibilities include:

  • Instructing, monitoring, and supporting adult ESOL learners using various methods in workshops and computer-based digi-lab sessions.
  • Collaborating with the ESOL team to develop learners' English skills and support continuous improvement activities.
  • Developing resources for learners from Pre Entry to Level 2.
  • Contributing to strategies aimed at improving student achievement, attendance, and retention.
  • Participating in the Additional Learning Support process.

The candidate must hold a CELTA or an equivalent Trinity CERT in ESOL. They should be confident using computers to support students, with experience in Microsoft 365 and the Microsoft Office suite. Strong self-management, deadline adherence, and excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

The role may require evening hours. The candidate must be available to work on Monday afternoons, Wednesday mornings, and Friday mornings. Interviews are scheduled for Thursday, 10th July 2025, at Riverside Dene Campus.
