Job Description:

We’re BDO. An accountancy and business advisory firm, providing the advice and solutions entrepreneurial organisations need to navigate today’s changing world.

We work with the companies that are Britain’s economic engine – ambitious, entrepreneurially-spirited and high‑growth businesses that fuel the economy - and directly advise the owners and management teams that lead them.

We’ll broaden your horizons

Our Advisory team provides a wide variety of services that deliver value-led advice and outcomes. They have an in-depth knowledge of business, industry sectors, and markets, and understand the constantly changing risks and opportunities at the heart of our clients’ affairs. The team works across strategy, operations, and improvement, as well as at a transactional and project level. From technology to risk advisory, they’re experts in executing top-level instructions and resolving detailed issues – all in a straightforward package. When you join, you’ll work on some of the world's most exciting financial operations and business deals, building your experience and expertise alongside industry leaders.

We’ll help you succeed

Leading organisations trust us because of the quality of our advice. That quality stems from a thorough understanding of their business, built through close collaboration and long-lasting relationships.

You’ll be proactive in managing your tasks and confident in collaborating and communicating with senior managers, directors, and partners to help businesses operate effectively. You’ll be encouraged to identify opportunities to enhance our delivery and offer additional services to our clients.

This role, within our transaction services team, involves leading our ESG due diligence offering, helping clients understand ESG-related risks and opportunities during transactions such as acquisitions and IPOs. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone with ESG expertise and due diligence skills to support sound investment decisions, understanding the value and risks of sustainable operations.

Building on your expertise, you will lead the growth of our ESG due diligence services by delivering quality advice, contributing to team knowledge, and supporting external business development.

You will lead ESG projects alongside our financial due diligence team across sectors and with private equity and corporate clients. We will support your ongoing development in this evolving field, with support from existing sustainability experts within the firm.

You’ll need:

  • Thorough knowledge of Transaction Services and due diligence.
  • A passion for sustainability and ESG, with the ability to promote an ESG mindset.
  • Understanding of major non-financial reporting frameworks (e.g., ISSB/TCFD, GRI, CDP) and legislation (e.g., CSRD).
  • Familiarity with the SASB framework for identifying material ESG risks.
  • Ability to communicate ESG benefits to various stakeholders.
  • Project and people management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proactive professional development approach.
  • Adaptability and motivation for innovation.
  • Strong MS Office skills, especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

We value authenticity and support agile working, offering flexible arrangements to suit individuals and teams.

At BDO, we aim to help you achieve your personal and professional goals through structured development programs and resources.

We’re in it together

Mutual support and respect are core values at BDO. We foster a people-centered culture with mentoring, coaching, and collaborative spaces to encourage learning and growth.
