Job summary

Emeria UK is seeking a senior ESG leader to serve as the lead subject matter expert for environmental sustainability, climate reporting, carbon management, social value measurement, and non-financial assurance. The role drives robust ESG data, reporting and disclosure processes while ensuring compliance with evolving UK standards and global frameworks.

Job description

The role serves as Emeria UK's lead subject matter expert for environmental sustainability, climate reporting, carbon management, social value measurement, sustainability reporting and non-financial assurance. The role will lead the development of robust ESG data, reporting and disclosure processes, ensuring that environmental and social performance is measured, managed and reported effectively. The role will also support compliance with emerging sustainability-related requirements, including climaterelated financial disclosures, UK Sustainability Reporting Standards (UK SRS), carbon reporting obligations and Group reporting frameworks such as the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)., Climate, Carbon and Energy

• Lead the calculation of Emeria UK's carbon footprint including relevant emissions.
• Maintain carbon accounting methodologies and calculation boundaries in line with GHG protocol and best practice.
• Develop and maintain Emeria UK's overall carbon reduction and net zero plans.
• Monitor progress against carbon reduction targets and energy performance objectives.
• Lead climate and energy-related reporting and other statutory or voluntary reporting requirements.
• Support climate transition planning and the identification of energy efficiency and carbon reduction opportunities.

Environmental Management

• Oversee the effective implementation and continual improvement of Emeria UK's Environmental Management System.
• Coordinate environmental audits, management reviews and compliance activities.
• Maintain environmental aspects, impacts and compliance registers.
• Support environmental compliance programmes across all operating brands.
• Monitor environmental legislation and emerging regulatory developments.

Social Value and Responsible Business

• Support development and continuous improvement of Emeria UK's Social Value Framework.
• Develop processes to measure social outcomes, qualitatively and quantitatively.
• Monitor and report on social performance indicators and outcomes.
• Support social value reporting, community investment, colleague engagement and responsible business initiatives.
• Support Modern Slavery assessments, reporting and supplier due diligence activities.

ESG Reporting, Disclosures and Assurance

• Lead the collection, management and reporting of ESG data across the Group.
• Maintain ESG performance indicators, dashboards and reporting processes.
• Support preparation of ESG reports, disclosures and sustainability communications.
• Coordinate responses to Group reporting requirements, and sustainability frameworks.
• Support emerging requirements including climate-related financial disclosures and UK sustainability reporting requirements.
• Lead preparation for audits, assurance reviews and external verification exercises.
• Support divisional ESG managers with sustainability guidance, tools and reporting requirements. Significant experience implementing environmental, sustainability or ESG programmes within a complex organisation.

Desirables

• Experience within property, real estate, facilities management or another multi-site operational environment.
• Experience of climate scenario analysis or climate modelling.
