ESG Manager (12-month Secondment / FTC)

This role is within the Stewardship & Integration sub-group of the Treasury and Investment Office ESG & Regulatory team. The focus is to conduct investment research and analysis on ESG topics and to integrate ESG considerations into the investment strategy and stewardship of Prudential Assurance Company's invested assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct ESG investment research and analysis, embedding ESG stewardship activities for the Investment Office, covering M&G's life portfolios, including annuity, with-profits, and unit-linked business.
  • Support the formulation of ESG investment strategy for these portfolios.
  • Monitor asset managers and portfolios' adherence to ESG investment policies, collaborating with key stakeholders.
  • Assist in governance, oversight, and implementation of ESG integration and stewardship activities.
  • Develop and embed ESG and stewardship investment policies and strategies, ensuring proper governance.
  • Perform ESG due diligence for asset manager selection and oversight, informing adherence to policies.
  • Facilitate implementation of engagement and voting strategies focused on ESG.
  • Compile ESG-related management information, including asset managers' engagement activities, for governance committees.
  • Review external stewardship and ESG frameworks, incorporating them into the Investment Office's activities.
  • Assist in preparing the annual Stewardship Report in line with the UK Stewardship Code 2020.
  • Manage ESG disclosures and advise internal functions on ESG integration.
  • Supervise colleagues and support professional development within the team.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Knowledge of ESG topics, stewardship frameworks, investment considerations, regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to research unfamiliar topics and translate findings into investment policies.
  • Understanding of all asset classes and their roles in multi-asset and annuity portfolios.
  • Stakeholder engagement and presentation skills across different functions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work flexibly.
