Job summary

Mercedes AMG HPP in the UK invites undergrad students to join our Eight-time World Championship winning team at our Northamptonshire Technology Centre. As a student intern, you will support supply chain quality, supplier readiness, and issue resolution with high-precision external suppliers.

You will work on component conformance, process improvement, and programme delivery, while gaining hands-on experience in a cutting-edge F1 environment and benefiting from extensive mentoring and training

Qualifications

• Undergraduate STEM student with strong academic grounding.
• Solid understanding of engineering first principles and hands-on experience outside coursework.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, high-precision environment and communicate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Supply Chain Quality: drive quality and reliability across external suppliers to meet F1 criteria.
• Supplier Selection & Readiness: evaluate supplier capability and ensure production readiness.
• Technical Problem Solving: lead investigations and support suppliers on complex engineering challenges.
• Component Conformance: verify parts against drawings, CAD, and specifications.
• Process Optimisation: drive continuous improvement with suppliers to boost capability and efficiency.
• Non-Conformance & Containment: rapidly manage non-conforming parts with robust containment.
• Programme Delivery: align with milestones to avoid build delays.

Key Responsibilities

• Supply Chain Quality: Drive quality and reliability into products and manufacturing processes across the external supply chain to meet stringent F1 criteria.
• Supplier Selection & Readiness: Partner with Product Engineering and Purchasing to evaluate supplier manufacturing capability, determine capacity, and ensure full production readiness.
• Technical Problem Solving: Lead technical investigations and support external suppliers in resolving complex electronic and manufacturing challenges.
• Component Conformance: Analyse complex electronic assemblies to verify part compliance against technical drawings, CAD, and functional specifications.
• Process Optimisation: Champion continuous improvement and process development initiatives with suppliers to enhance technical capability and efficiency.
• Non-Conformance & Containment: Manage non-conforming products rapidly and effectively, establishing robust containment actions across suppliers, the factory, and trackside operations.
• Programme Delivery: Maintain alignment with strict project milestones to ensure components are delivered to build schedules without delay.

What We Are Looking For

• Currently studying towards an undergraduate degree in Electrical, Electronic, Automotive, Mechatronics, Motorsport, or Aeronautical Engineering (or related STEM disciplines such as Physics/Maths), on track for a 2:1 or above.
• Strong academic grounding in STEM subjects at A-Level (or equivalent).
• Solid understanding of engineering first principles with practical, hands‑on technical experience outside the lecture theatre.
• A proactive, inquisitive mindset with the confidence to challenge conventions and tackle complex technical problems.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with multi‑disciplinary teams and high‑precision suppliers.
• High adaptability, self‑motivation, and resilience in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
