Job summary

Morgan Law Partners Llp, on behalf of an NHS Trust, is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Manager to join the People and Workforce team on a permanent basis. You will provide expert advice across complex employee relations matters and work with senior leaders, HR Business Partners and trade unions to ensure fair, compliant decision-making.

You will lead investigations, support formal hearings, help develop policies, deliver training to managers and spot trends in data to inform workforce

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in Employee Relations, HR or People function.
  • Proven ability to manage complex and sensitive employee relations cases.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and its practical application.
  • Experience advising managers and senior leaders on challenging people issues.
  • Experience working with recognised trade unions and staff representatives.
  • Excellent investigation, influencing and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Providing expert advice on complex employee relations cases (disciplinary, capability, grievance, sickness absence, performance, workplace conflict).
  • Supporting managers to manage cases effectively, fairly and compliantly with employment law and NHS policies.
  • Advising on complex employment matters involving professional conduct and wellbeing.
  • Supporting formal hearings and investigations and guiding managers through the process.
  • Collaborating with HR Partners and wider People teams for consistent service delivery.
  • Building strong relationships with managers, leaders and trade unions to support workforce priorities.
  • Providing advice during organisational change, restructures and transformation programmes.
  • Identifying trends in employee relations data to inform priorities and interventions.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of employee relations policies and guidance.
  • Delivering training and coaching to managers to strengthen their capability in managing people.

Are you an experienced Employee Relations professional looking for your next challenge?

My NHS Trust client are seeking an experienced, proactive and highly motivated Employee Relations Manager to join our People and Workforce team on a permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR/Employee Relations professional to provide expert advice and leadership across a wide range of complex employee relations matters, supporting our managers to create a positive, inclusive and high-performing workplace.

Working in partnership with senior leaders, operational managers, HR Business Partners, trade unions and professional leads, you will play a key role in ensuring that employee relations matters are managed fairly, consistently and in line with employment legislation, NHS policy and organisational values.

As Employee Relations Manager, you will provide expert advice and guidance to managers across the organisation on complex and sensitive employee relations issues.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing expert advice on complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary, capability, grievance, sickness absence, performance management and workplace conflict.
  • Supporting managers to manage cases effectively, fairly and consistently, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and NHS policies.
  • Providing advice on complex and sensitive employment matters, including cases involving professional conduct and employee wellbeing.
  • Supporting formal hearings and investigations, including advising managers throughout the process.
  • Working collaboratively with HR Business Partners and wider People teams to ensure a consistent and high-quality service.
  • Building strong and effective relationships with managers, senior leaders, staff representatives and recognised trade unions.
  • Providing advice and support during organisational change, restructures and workforce transformation programmes.
  • Identifying trends and themes within employee relations data and using these insights to inform workforce priorities and interventions.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of employee relations policies, procedures and guidance.
  • Delivering training, coaching and development sessions to managers to strengthen their confidence and capability in managing people effectively.
  • Ensuring that employee relations practices promote equality, diversity, inclusion and fairness.
  • Keeping up to date with changes in employment legislation, NHS guidance and best practice.

We are looking for an experienced Employee Relations professional who can demonstrate excellent knowledge of employment law, NHS employment frameworks and best practice in employee relations.
You will have:

  • Significant experience working within an Employee Relations, HR or People function.
  • Proven experience of managing complex and sensitive employee relations cases.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and its practical application.
  • Experience advising managers and senior leaders on challenging people issues.
  • Experience of working constructively with recognised trade unions and staff representatives.
  • Excellent investigation, influencing, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
  • The ability to interpret complex information and provide clear, pragmatic and proportionate advice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload and competing priorities.
  • A confident and professional approach, with the ability to challenge constructively when required.
  • A commitment to confidentiality, integrity and professional standards.
