About the Role

Are you interested in understanding what drives stock values? Do you enjoy using empirical methods to analyze large datasets? If you thrive on challenging data limitations, making informed predictions, and communicating your insights effectively, then this opportunity in sell-side equity research might be for you.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Build and maintain financial models using Excel.
  2. Test hypotheses about companies, including their suppliers, customers, and competitors.
  3. Apply empirical research methods to evaluate historical data and forecast future trends.
  4. Communicate investment recommendations clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  5. Educate colleagues on statistical computing workflows and best practices.
  6. Work under tight deadlines, stay updated on market developments, and contribute to investment strategies.
Team and Environment

You will join a small, specialized equity research team within a large global investment bank, focusing on 5-30 companies within a sector. Your unique expertise in empirical social sciences will help pioneer new approaches in sell-side research.

Qualifications
  1. Post-graduate degree in economics, sociology, political science, demography, public health, education, or related fields.
  2. At least 2 years of experience in hypothesis-driven empirical research. PhD research experience is also applicable.
  3. Proven ability to deliver projects under tight deadlines.
  4. Significant experience in statistical computing; proficiency in Python is a major plus.
  5. Experience with Microsoft Excel is desirable.
  6. Relevant finance certifications such as CFA Level 1 are advantageous.
