About the Opportunity

Jacobs is recruiting for an Equipment Reliability Engineer to join our Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services Business. NPETS is supporting the UK nuclear fleet through a business transformation and supporting new small modular reactor developers. Our work covers New Build, Generation, Life Extension, and Defueling, with capabilities in demand across the nuclear sector.

This role offers great experience in the Nuclear industry, supporting clients at stations or facilities, with travel and potential relocation required. Flexibility to work from a Jacobs office or from home is available based on project needs. You will report to the Plant Optimisation and Engineering Manager and collaborate with Reliability, Mechanical, and Process engineers.

Candidates should be familiar with working in regulated environments providing ER support and delivering work to high HSSE standards in compliance with HSSE regulations. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Preparing technical reports, reliability reviews, and safety case documentation
  2. Improving maintenance practices through knowledge of maintenance optimization and condition monitoring
  3. Analyzing complex data sets to understand plant operation and identify improvements
  4. Justifying recommendations based on data analysis of maintenance and operational history
  5. Supporting outage methodologies to implement improvements
  6. Delivering Equipment Reliability improvements across stations
  7. Assisting in proposals and tenders with accurate work estimates
  8. Maintaining relationships with client engineers
  9. Working safely and striving for continuous improvement in HSSE areas

Qualifications and Experience Needed:

  1. Degree-qualified engineer or experienced engineer via apprenticeship with relevant expertise
  2. Eligibility to work in the UK and obtain BPSS and CTC security clearances
  3. Knowledge of condition monitoring techniques and qualifications supporting their use
  4. Proven data analysis skills leading to actionable recommendations
  5. Understanding of equipment reliability techniques to improve plant efficiency
  6. Experience in the nuclear or highly regulated industries (e.g., rail)
  7. Knowledge of nuclear plant systems, structures, components, and relevant standards (e.g., AP928, AP913)
  8. Part-time or flexible working options may be considered for the right candidate
