About the Role

About the Role

Based at Bromborough and reporting to and deputising for the Equipment and Mobilisation Manager, the Equipment Maintenance Manager will manage 2x field service engineers and several sub-contractors, supported by two administrators.

Role and Responsibilities

  1. Plan and monitor preventive maintenance schedules monthly to ensure all WHE is maintained cost-effectively, compliant, and safe, with minimal downtime.
  2. Liaise with customers regarding maintenance and repair activities.
  3. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities.
  4. Respond promptly to maintenance or breakdown requests.
  5. Follow up with Engineers and/or sub-contractors, ensuring continuous communication with the customer until resolution.
  6. Process engineers’ worksheets, review for completion, first-time fix, outstanding work, and identify further works required; escalate as necessary.
  7. Arrange return visits and plan further works, including modifications, major overhauls, and refurbishments.
  8. Coordinate permits to work and RAMS packages for customers.
  9. Coordinate with vendors and contractors for maintenance services.
  10. Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will come from an industrial background with experience maintaining recycling and waste management equipment such as balers and compactors, seeking progression into a senior/management role. Relevant knowledge, experience, and ability are prioritized over qualifications, but the candidate should have:

  • Experience with maintenance documentation, legal requirements, and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of electrical circuits, testing/diagnostics on 3-phase equipment, hydraulic circuits, and fault finding.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering, fabricating, and welding.
  • Recognized Health and Safety qualifications (IOSH/NEBOSH).
  • Experience in producing and reviewing risk assessments and method statements.
  • Excellent face-to-face customer service and negotiation skills.
  • IT literacy with proficiency in MS Office, CRM, ERP systems.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • A can-do attitude, flexibility, and resourcefulness.
  • Relevant Health & Safety qualifications.
  • Recent training or learning evidence.
  • Technical knowledge across electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic areas in recycling/waste management or similar industries.
  • Experience in planning and organizing maintenance tasks.
  • Experience delivering operator training, toolbox talks, or briefings.
  • Full UK driving license and eligibility to work and live in the UK.
