Equipment Engineer | Chelmsford

Role Description:

We are looking for an Electronics Engineer / Equipment Engineer with an interest in a wide range of disciplines to provide technical support to shift equipment engineers covering all areas of silicon wafer processing equipment, including packaging and testing. Projects will include equipment installations, improvements, and resolving underlying equipment issues. This equipment is housed within three clean areas requiring full gowning.

This is a multi-disciplined role where you work hands-on and gain experience working with gases, chemicals, robotics, vacuum, electrical, and electronics. The role is onsite, Monday to Friday, with flexible start and finish times to suit you.

Responsibilities:
  1. Respond rapidly to equipment issues using your electronics knowledge and experience, ensuring timely repairs and providing clear updates to production teams. Lead cross-functional teams within Teledyne and external engineers, recording actions and minutes of meetings for complex issues.
  2. Engage in project work, including installing new equipment and making equipment modifications, providing necessary documentation and training.
  3. Produce risk assessments for all equipment, host contractor reviews of method statements and risk assessments, and issue permits to work.
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary engineering role combining electromechanical engineering and electronics.
  • Ability to understand circuit diagrams and perform board-level and component repairs on electronic equipment, including some vintage critical kit.
  • Willingness to wear Self-contained Breathing Apparatus after passing medical and training.
  • Due to cleanroom requirements, makeup is not allowed, and smoking is prohibited 4 hours before entering the cleanroom (non-smokers only).
